Get the Look … Latest World of Interiors
There are some glorious interiors in the new issue of World of Interiors (March 2012). None moreso than Hosh Ibrahim’s Maida Vale pad brilliantly re-modelled by Wells Mackereth (award-winning – see below). There’s a secret “Scooby-doo” door, there’s a telly on a winch to enable Hosh to watch from his mezzanine bath-tub and a chestnut-leather conversation-pit...

First fireplace from the Three Pigeons workshop this year – it’s a beauty!
Our marble mason Jarek gets a bit miserable if he doesn’t have a marble fireplace to get his teeth into. In the summer we bought two lorry-loads of architectural salvage that had been stock-piled for many years in a warehouse. Much of it was known to have come from some prestigious buildings (we are talking...

Happy Fatboy loves his new sock drawers!
Superstar DJ Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim clearly hadn’t measured his staircase before we arrived with his purchase – the wonderful Haberdasher’s cabinet salvaged from a motorbike workshop in Thame. Fortunately his decorators were very helpful as the four of us embarked on some of the most ambitious mid-stairs cartwheeling manouvres rarely attempted. And then again...

Island Cabinet
We’ve done some unusual deliveries in our time but today was a good one: “He’ll meet you in the car park and will give you a hand loading”; we were expecting something on four wheels. With “Spanner” alongside (that’s the river launch), the cabinet is gingerly loaded. The only place for it is the front...

LASSCO on TV
National Geographic Channel (UK) is currently screening “The Reclaimers” at the weekends. The twelve-part series was originally broadcast by the BBC six years ago and features LASSCO in various stories through many of the half-hour programmes. Much footage was shot at our former shop at St. Michael’s Church, Shoreditch – prior to our big departure...

The Fire Engines have left now.
Well, it’s been a bit of a day at The Three Pigeons. What started out as a relatively simple task of welding the weather-vane back on to the top of the Osney Grange bell tower ended up with two fire engines and a dozen fire fighters. The problem was that sparks slipped down a small collar...

Sir William Chambers’ Doorcase Up!
The last time Sir William Chambers’ doorcase was constructed, Sir William himself would have overseen it. That was 1769 just as the terrace he’d designed on Berners Street was taking shape. His own house, for which this doorcase was carved, was in the middle of the terrace. Here at LASSCO Three Pigeons, 242years later, Jarek...
