Iroko parquet block flooring
rectangular block parquet, tongue and groove, normally laid in herringbone format, supplied "as is" bagged,
£55 + VAT per sq m
This iroko parquet wood block was reclaimed from a Sarco Engineering warehouse in Cheltenham. Sarco were responsible to manufacturing steam engines. The warehouses themselves dated from the 1920s.
Iroko – native to Nigeria – has a deep and rich colour – it is renown for its hardwearing properties. Its cross-grain makes it tough – carpenters avoid it – it blunts their saws: so it is perfect for a parquet floor! Between the wars it was imported in large quantities and can be found in municipal building, assembly halls, galleries and schools.
On order, the block parquet is picked for uniformity of size and condition. It still has the bitumen to the back and dust grime and scratches to the face. Once laid it can be sanded, oiled or waxed. When done, put a floor-polisher over it and it looks amazing. We have large quantities available. In the pictures we have sanded and oiled the block examples to show how it will look (one picture demonstrates the condition it comes to you in).
