A carved statuary white marble bust of a young man,
thought Flemish, probably early 18th Century,
the male with head turned a dextra, carved with a curly coiffure and attired in classical drapes his chest partially exposed, raised on a later composition-stone socle,
£4,650
Some restorations to the curly locks. The tousled curly hair extends down the back of the neck but the back of the shoulders are not carved in detail so this life-size bust was intended for a niche. It is lightly weathered. Note that this bust is generously proportioned and carved from the solid so is remarkably heavy - a robust plinth will be required for it.
