St. Patrick at LASSCO
Happy St. Patrick’s Day. We have St. Patrick with us at LASSCO Three Pigeons, clutching his sprig of shamrock and keeping an eye on the shop – together with his fellow Irish patron Saint Columba and, between them St. Augustine of Canterbury. Together they form a very fine stained glass window. More info here.

Well, well, well…
You’ll find some beautiful old stone troughs and well-heads at LASSCO Three Pigeons. We can’t resist buying them when we find them; English or French they tend to sell quickly. Encrusted with centuries of lichen and decades of moss, it is hard to envisage that these great lumps of roughly hewn stone could have been physically moved...

Save Spiegelhalter’s!
Adrian Amos, LASSCO Chairman writes: “One of my earliest memories was being shown Spiegelhalter’s by my father, Sid Amos, in the mid 1950s. He pointed it out as a ‘sod you’ phenomenon – the ‘independent trader’ against the powerful and corporate – hubris with built-in nemesis. Spiegelhalter’s was dear to the heart of every small businessman in...

THE THREE PIGEONS, MILTON COMMON, OXFORDSHIRE
LASSCO moved from St. Michael’s Shoreditch to The Three Pigeons Oxfordshire in 2007. The pub we found then was in a terrible state and so were the grounds. We have brought the old Inn back to life. The bar and dining rooms are once again thronged with people – both locals and travellers – and with our Architectural Salvage displayed...

Cabinets of Curiosity – and size.
We’re delighted to receive pictures of the “Captain Cook Cabinet” that we salvaged in the summer (2014) at The Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford, now installed at its new home in Berlin. The mahogany monster – it is 7metres long (23ft) – had sat for over a century in the prime spot on the first floor mezzanine at...

BRUNSWICK HOUSE, VAUXHALL: A SHORT HISTORY BY STEFAN LORETT
In the eighteenth century Brunswick House (originally Belmont House) stood in five and half acres of parkland with its own jetty and a handsome frontage onto the Old Portsmouth Road. Now some two and half centuries later it casts a rueful glance at five lanes of traffic thundering past all hours of the day and...
