The Provenance, by repute was that this, one of a series of keystones was removed from the Minster School in Leominster. However – these carvings are self-evidently from a library rather than a school (or a library in a large school) but the photographs of the demolished school, and the Grammar school next to it never had such opulent architectural ornament.

The Leominster Corn Exchange was a very grand building – demolished some 50years ago – and it had “The Free Library” directly behind it on South Street. From what we can find, neither of these buildings had these keystones incorporated into them. Research continues but we suspect the series: HISTORY, BIOGRAPHY, TRAVEL , FICTION & THEOLOGY, were likely to have been removed from a library demolition in that part of the world. We are selling them separately and will offer a discount for any buyer wanting to buy the series.

They make fantastic garden ornaments (and they are a good height to support a table – indoors or out) – particularly for anywhere with a literary connection!
