A pair of English composition stone gate-pier ball finials,
smaller size, newly made to an early 19th Century pattern,
each with a sphere held aloft on a spreading knopped socle above an integral square-section plinth foot,
£360 the pair
Traditional finials for gate-piers, parapets or terrace walls, these spheres were hand-carved or later cast in stoneware. Here we have cast them in composition stone and given them an aged patina. They are usually sold by the pair – and are priced per pair – they can be ordered in series if required. Scroll through the pictures to see scale (with a bottle) from which you can make comparison with the larger version (see 49108).
