Harris Lebus took his father Louis’ cabinet-making firm in Wellclose Square to Tabernacle Street in Shoreditch in late Victorian times. The Curtain road area was then a hotbed of furniture making and his company boomed. It later went on to occupy a vast site in Tottenham. This bookcase is emulating the successful designs of the Globe Wernicke Company.
