The Anthemion (pl. Anthemia) is a classical motif, much used by the ancients to create repeating friezes. It was favoured by the likes of Robert Adam and Sir William Chambers in ornamenting their 18th Century architecture. The anthemion is essentially a stylised honeysuckle.
