A run of English cast iron and steel railing for a townhouse frontage,
19th and 20th Century,
comprising five lengths of railing with foliate finials on the uprights and dog-bars, plus a single gate en suite (144h x 98w cm). The height of the top rail of the access gate at 123cm informs the original installed height of the railing.
£4,350 the lot
The original context had this run of railing mounted on a dwarf wall – the uprights set in lead-filled sockets in the traditional way. A later matching panel seems to have been created with an additional bottom rail. Some finials are off but retained.
