A run of English cast iron and steel railing for a townhouse frontage,

19th and 20th Century,

comprising five lengths of railing with foliate finials on the uprights and dog-bars, plus a single gate en suite (144h x 98w cm). The height of the top rail of the access gate at 123cm informs the original installed height of the railing.

The original context had this run of railing mounted on a dwarf wall – the uprights set in lead-filled sockets in the traditional way. A later matching panel seems to have been created with an additional bottom rail. Some finials are off but retained.
