The initials 'WN' refer to William Nichols, a prominent 'Big Ride and Show Operator' throughout the 1920/30s, and a little after WWII. It is thought they decorated part of a 'Noah's Ark' ride; at this time it was common that ownership of the various amusements at a fairground was indicated by such decoration and sign writing.
