Written originally as part of a monthly supplement to The Englishwoman's Domestic Magazine between 1859 and 1861, her articles on cooking and household management were published as a single volume entitled 'The Book of Household Management' in October 1861. Contrary to common belief, Mrs Beeton was not a lady of mature years but was infact only 23 when she started writing for the magazine, 25, when the book was first published and only 28, when she died, soon after bearing her fourth child.
