Greville Irwin was an alumnus of the Académie Julian in Paris and the Academie des Beaux Arts, Brussels. Badly wounded and taken prisoner during WWI, his injuries left him with partial paralysis for the rest of his life. Irwin showed at the R.A., the Royal Glasgow Institute, the New English Arts Club and the at the Royal Society of British Artists where he was an elected member,
