Albert Houghton was a member of the Wapping Group of London painters between 1970 and 1998.
“Formally founded in 1946, The Wapping Group is one of the longest established societies of professional artist in the UK. Whatever the weather, this group of 25 dedicated atrists meets every week between April and September at a chosen venue between Henley and the Thames Estuary. There is a great camaraderie among these artists and the Group has remained exactly what it first set out to be: a small group of fellow-artists, appreciating each other’s company while painting outdoors together in all weather. For almost 70 years now, The Wapping Group has recorded the changing face of London and the river Thames.”
