Framed chromolithograph by Spy (Sir Leslie Ward) picturing Mr Egerton Castle MA FRSA, author, antiquarian and swordsman. He was an early practitioner of reconstrucred historical fencing he went on to be apponted British fencing and sabre captain in two Olympic Games.
A keen collector of bookplates, he also published several novels, often in partnership with his wife Agnes Sweetman Castle, a number of which were turned into early motion pictures.
