the pierced arched panel, wrought with scroll-work and clusters of naturalistic foliage and foliate clasps, centred by a pierced oval with provision for a light,

Being designed to be seen from either side, with a central light and made to be suspended from a lateral pole – and therefore hinged – it would appear that this beautifully wrought panel may have been made for a thoroughfare – such as a shopping arcade.
It could lend itself equally well to a hallway or garden or perhaps as a screen or decorative panel.
