A pair of large decorative architectural hardwood finials,
20th Century, in the neo-classical taste,
each bulbous, urn-shaped body hand-carved with wrythen ribs, with a pear-shaped surmount, and raised on a spreading socle foot and an integral square plinth,
We are uncertain to the origin of these dramatic finials or the species of timber they are made from. Un-doubtedly hand carved they may have been carved in Asia for the export market into Europe or America. The attractive weathering to the surface of the timber could have been achieved by sand-blasting.
