A large quantity of top-grade salvaged Yorkstone flags
the pavement in random courses with good weathering and lichen growth, excellent flag sizes,
This wonderful batch of Yorkstone paving was laid in the Longwall Quad at Magdalen in the 1920's to a scheme by Giles Gilbert Scott. Preliminary work to the Quad is now underway prior to the building of a new Library extension. The Longwall itself has been under-pinned and extensive archeology has un-earthed at least 60 medieval skeletons (in a cemetary distinct from the Jewish cemetary that was on the site of the botanic gardens) and foundations to what was once a hospital.
