London Bridge by David William Burley 1901-1990,
Burley, cleverly plays with the texture of the masonite board and heavy impasto in this view of London Bridge. Born Greenwich, Burley trained at Goldsmiths College London. He was mainly a painter of landscapes and worked in advertising during the 1930’s. when he designed many iconic posters for the Southern and Midland railway companies and later British Railways. He exhibited work at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Watercolour Painters and other major galleries and lived in Birchington in Kent. Framed. -
