This pot was sourced in Morocco; similar pots can originate from anywhere in the Mediterranean region. It could be considerably older than 19th Century – they are hard to date with certainty as they’ve been made this way for at least three millennia. They are often kept in cool cellars and are sealed for long-term and seasonal storage of all manner of produce: grain, olive oil, figs etc. and make wonderful garden ornaments. Whilst we can’t guarantee them against frost we know them to be very hardy.
