London Road witnessed the building of a string of fine properties in the 1760’s as Reading saw an influx of trade and industry and the addition of a second bridge across the Kennet. This doorcase is known to have been removed in the 1950’s and is a rare and remarkable survivor. A picture of it in situ also survives showing the panelled returns and fanlight window (not salvaged with it).
