by the Dalkeith foundry, 19th Century,
the slender tapered fluted stem supporting ladder bars cast with "Nicolson Square", all raised on a square section foot bearing the foundry-mark,

Nicolson Square in Edinburgh Old Town was relandscaped in 2008 - with the removal of many of its older trees. A landmark within the gardens is the Iron Founder's Pillar of the 1880's.
