Wyllie (1851-1931) showing Old Waterloo Bridge from the Surrey shore with three steam Toshers working on the Lambeth Reach of the River Thames. Mounted and in its original frame. Old Waterloo bridge, designed and built by the engineer John Rennie was built in 1827 and stood until 1924 when the increased scour of the river, caused by the removal of the many-piered Old London Bridge, made necessary its dismantling and replacement.
