Tom Stogdon, who comes from a family of Covent Garden greengrocers, started sculpting in fruit & vegetables following jobs in the fruit trade, both at home and abroad. Exhibiting with his wife, Tom & Smith are the fourth of the exhibitors at LASSCO Three Pigeons in May.
Following a Lettering & Carving course and marriage to Rebecca, a florist, Tom has furthered his love of living sculptures by combining the mediums to produce pieces such as birch covered planted chairs and a chaise longue, covered in box with a mossed mattress pinned top to bottom with thousands of crab apples.
2008 sees Tom's slate, metal and stonework exhibited around the country at various shows, at the Crane Kalman Gallery and on his own stand in a garden setting at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
'Group LASSCO' looks forward to seeing what Tom & Rebecca produce for Artweeks from their studio in Albury, Thame!
