Exceptional nineteenth century French Statuary marble carved fireplace
with shaped and moulded shelf above boldly carved frieze centred by swags abundant with foliage and ribbons, the panels of interlocking guilloche to either side with alternating foliate and acorn with oak leaf bosses framed in bead moulding, the paterae corner blocks above acanthas volute jambs with elegant diminishing decorative detail to the centre of the moulded panels, on block feet with moulded panel returns to the jambs. Outstandingly carved throughout to very highest standard, c.1830-1850. -
