However, as shown here, a skilled tradesman should have no problem fusing old and new so long as the right measurements are taken. It also helps if the timber you choose to work with is distressed and tumbled edged like our new Cabin Oak. Then you should have no problem matching it with an ancient batch like the darker Somerset oak and beech used on the staircase here.
