Roman goddess of agriculture,
modelled seated holding torch aloft in one hand and with a sheaf of wheat in the other, on plinth base. Italian, nineteenth century.

This particular model of Ceres appears to be strongly influenced by an image of her on a fresco from a Pompeii IVth style home on the Naviglio site of Pompeii.
