A North African glazed terracotta cooking jar,
19th Century - possibly earlier, hand thrown,
the bulbous jar with a weathered patina, with handle loops and aperture to the side,
This pot was sourced in Morocco. They are used for slow cooking, filled with meat, herbs and spices, they are traditionally buried in embers - or even the desert sand, heated by the sun.
