These ceremonial necklaces are highly treasured and worn as part of exuberant costume for feast days, special occasions and especially weddings where historically the silver jewellry formed part of a dowry. Renowned for their love of silver-work – centred in Guizhou, in South Western China, the Miao without the borders of China are often known as Hmong.
