This is a replica piece and also available through our printed catalogue. St. Cecelia is best remembered for her vow of chastity which (she insisted) was to be shared by her husband "Valerius". The latter, a Roman nobleman, together with his brother, were executed following their conversion to Christianity - the story is reckoned to be in 2nd or 3rd Century Rome. Cecilia herself was sentenced to death by suffocation in a steam bath, her virtue enabled her to survive both this and subsequent attempts to behead her with a sword. She has strong connections with music and musical instruments. KEYWORDS: wall plaque, decorative stonework
