An Edwardian cast iron music stand

C.1914

with painted pine lectern and original 'tinned' lamp holder cannister.

ex. Scala Theatre, Boston, Lincolnshire.

Originally built in 1851, the Scala was redecorated in the 'Edwardian' taste, and converted to one of England's earliest cinemas, in 1914. This was in a period when films were still silent and had to be accompanied by a live orchestra to provide background music.
